Welcome to C.H. Campbell Kindergarten!
Your child is being offered a program which provides developmentally
appropriate activities and an exciting environment in which to learn! We invite you to support and participate in your child’s education!
C.H. Campbell Kindergarten seeks to balance child-initiated learning with
teacher-guided and supported activities in a happy environment! Children
experience independence and hands-on learning activities to promote success in reading, writing, and problem solving. These experiences will provide
opportunities to help your child grow academically, emotionally, and socially
every day!
ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance is essential for your child to obtain the maximum
benefit from our kindergarten program. School hours are 8:45-3:30. Please send a note if your child is tardy, will be picked up, needs to be dismissed early, or is returning to school after an absence. You must always sign your child out in the office.
CLOTHING
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for PE activities
(i.e. tennis shoes and comfortable clothing). Your child needs to wear socks each day. A schedule of our special classes including gym, library, music, and computers will be sent home. Your child will use “messy” things in kindergarten—glue, play dough, markers, paint, etc., so please dress them in clothes that can get “dirty”. Please be sure your child can “operate” his/her own clothes, such as fasteners on overalls, snaps, buttons, tights, etc. Coats, mittens, boots, scarves, etc., MUST be labeled with your child’s name!!!!!
TEACHER/PARENT CORRESPONDENCE
At the beginning of each month, you will receive a newsletter explaining
skills and concepts we will be working on. Dates of special events in our
classroom and school will also be included.
HOMEWORK
Your child’s homework will arrive with a note detailing what is expected
and when it should be returned. This home/school connection is an important component and follow-up to the skills your child is learning in kindergarten.
Thank you ahead of time for partnering with me in your child’s
education!
DAILY FOLDER
A folder will be used to send items home from school. PLEASE CHECK THIS FOLDER EVERY DAY. Please use this folder to send homework, notes, etc., to school, as well. It will be your child’s responsibility to deliver the contents to me into a designated tray each day—therefore, it is essential for you to review and remove the contents before school the next day.
SNACK
Please provide a small, nutritious snack for your child each day that can be eaten in approximately 10 minutes. Please do not send a drink.
CONFERENCES
Parents are invited to attend two parent/teacher conferences held in
November and February.
BIRTHDAYS
We will celebrate birthdays in class with a special way of honoring our students. We are not permitted to pass out treats in our class. Birthday party invitations will NOT be distributed at school. If you would like a list of students and addresses, please contact Mrs. Sharf in the school office. We will celebrate summer birthdays in May.
SCHOOL PARTIES
We will have three school-sponsored parties: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. These parties are planned by PTA. If you would like to be part of these celebrations, you may sign up when information is sent home.
TOYS
Please do not allow your child to bring any toys, games, stuffed animals,
etc., from home. You will receive a note if/when there are designated days to bring items like these from home.
